lúpína

The Icelandic artist, songwriter, and producer lúpína embarked on her solo journey by releasing her dreamy Icelandic synth-pop single alein in the autumn of 2022. Since then, she has captivated audiences with her singles and her debut album ringluð, in early 2023, which will soon be followed by her upcoming sophomore album marglytta or "jellyfish" in English. The album includes complex layers of synths, soundscapes, and captivating lyrics. Marglytta is an ode to herself, allowing people to see through her and her emotions—just like a jellyfish.

lúpína's music is a fusion of Icelandic lyric-focused Scandi pop. She explores the boundaries of pop music, seamlessly blending different genres. She brings a fresh perspective to Icelandic music, infusing it with global appeal while staying true to her roots. As she continues to evolve as an artist, her music promises to leave an indelible mark on the local and international music scene.

Sunna Margrét

Icelandic musician Sunna Margrét.

Sunna Margrét

Of Sunna Margrét's recently released debut album Finger on Tongue, The Quietus said, "Oddball Icelandic pop packs a dense punch, heavy with ideas." A fitting description for one of the most intriguing artists to emerge from Iceland in recent years. Drawing from influences such as CAN, Suzanne Ciani, and PJ Harvey, Sunna has also been described as "weaving reinvented trip-hop" (Electronic Sound Magazine). She's received enthusiastic support from KCRW, Under The Radar, BBC 6 Music, Radio X, and Soho Radio, and hosting an hour-long Freak Zone playlist show on BBC 6 Music. As well as featuring prominently in the May issue of Record Collector, enthusing about her favourite sounds and rarities from her extensive vinyl collection. Sunna Margrét played The Great Escape in May 2024 and the final LungA Festival in East Iceland and will play Iceland Airwaves in November.
