Taste of Iceland Seattle

Hæ/Hi: Vol III | Welcome

Often overlooked, the entryway is more than a passage between indoors and outdoors; it can be a transitional space blending both.

"Every beginning is cheerful: the threshold is the place of expectation." - Goethe

Few architectural elements are as ubiquitous, and at the same time as taken for granted, as the entryway. Simply stated, the entryway is a passage between interior and exterior. However, when thoughtfully considered, the entryway can become a transitional space that is neither inside nor outside but contains elements of both.

Hæ/Hi: Designing Friendship, a collaborative project featuring Icelandic and Seattle-based design studios, will address the acts that take place and the objects associated with arriving and departing, greetings and goodbyes, in its third exhibition, Hæ/Hi: Vol III | Welcome.

Participating studios were asked how the experience of entering or exiting a home can be elevated to evoke a sense of comfort and relaxation in guests and ourselves while embodying the spirit of Friendship and hospitality.

Hæ/Hi: Vol III | Welcome will be exhibited during Taste of Iceland Seattle from October 3 to 5, 2024, at Railspur Gallery, 100 S King St, Seattle, WA 98104.
